RIP: Leitrim community in mourning following sad death of 'wonderful and kind lady'

The Newtongore community is in mourning following the sad and sudden death of "wonderful and kind lady" Elizabeth (Liz) Elvins (née Eakins).

Liz, late of The Cottage, Clooncose, Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim and formerly Mullaghdoo, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan, passed away suddenly on Saturday May 24 in the Mather Hospital, Dublin.

Liz will be very sadly missed by her heartbroken husband and best friend Phill, son Michael (Claire), daughter Katie (Hunter), grandchildren Olivia and Jaxon, sister, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, all the family circle and many friends.

Liz's colleagues from Focus (The Family Resource Centre) in Killeshandra posted a heartfelt tribute on social media following her passing.

"It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague Liz Elvins

"Liz was a compassionate, dedicated, and generous presence within our community, always offering her time, wisdom, and warmth. Her contributions to Focus and our board of management have made a lasting impact, and her kindness touched the lives of many.

"We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her beloved husband and best friend Phil and her adored family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

"Thank you, Liz, for everything you gave. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered."

Tributes have also poured in from those who knew and fondly remembered Liz on RIP.ie, with one mourner saying,

"My deepest sympathy to Phill, her children, grandchildren and all her relatives and many friends on the loss of a very dear and special person. Liz was a friendly, positive and caring lady and she will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace."

While another wrote,

"My heartfelt condolences to Phil and family on the loss of your beloved Liz. She was such a bright lovely person who always had a smile. Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time and may ye find comfort in your many happy memories spent together."
