Lurganboy Lodge, Barrackpark
Planning permission has been granted for renovations and developments to a protected structure in North Leitrim.
In June of this year, a planning application was submitted to Leitrim County Council seeking approval for a series of changes to Lurganboy Lodge at Barrackpark.
The application outlined proposals for a single-storey extension to the rear of the property, internal refurbishment works, alterations to the east gable, the installation of three new heritage roof lights, the fitting of a flat iron gate on the passageway to the west side, and the creation of a new rear patio and seating area at Lurganboy Lodge.
Approval was granted by Leitrim County Council on July 31, subject to 11 conditions.

Among these conditions are requirements that the development be carried out under the on-site professional supervision of an accredited architect with specialised conservation expertise, and that the proposed extension and existing house must form a single dwelling unit which shall not be sold, let, or otherwise conveyed except as part of the main dwelling unit.
In March of last year, Lurganboy Lodge received over €6,100 for works to the external walls through the Historic Structures Fund and the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.
In 2021, it was awarded €15,000 for the conservation of windows and glass.
The lodge is officially listed as protected structure number 274 in Leitrim County Council’s Record of Protected Structures, as outlined in the Leitrim County Development Plan 2023 - 2029, where it is classified as a hunting lodge.
