Safety improvements called for at Ballinamore meeting for Charlton's Cross

The official response said the district office is looking to change the priority of this junction and give right of way to the Drunshanbo to Kilclare road (L-3385).

Call for 'very dangerous' junction to be widened as a matter of urgency

Stop sign

Leitrim councillor asked for an update on what safety improvements will be carried out on the L3384, specifically Charltons Cross where it meets the L3385 which he said was "extremely dangerous at this location and sightlines are very poor."

Cllr Brendan Barry said: "The roads aren't aligned and it is very dangerous with the high grass where cars can't see and are nosing out. Several people have had close calls recently and one where it was inches where a car cut across in front of them."

The official response said the district office is looking to change the priority of this junction and give right of way to the Drunshanbo to Kilclare road (L-3385).

The response concluded: "We will seek funding from the low cost safety schemes which will allow us to carry out require design and construction."
