Leitrim organisations urged to apply for circular economy grants before deadline next week

Organisations in Leitrim have been urged to apply for Circular Communication Grants ahead of the closing date on 7 November 2025.

The grants, which are worth up to €5,000, aim to provide funding and hands-on support to community organisations across Ireland to help promote their circular economy initiatives. The scheme forms part of a wider effort to encourage practices where materials are reused and recycled continuously, helping to reduce waste.

Circular.ie, which is managing the grants nationally, has allocated €100,000 for the programme and hopes to support community collaboration and the adoption of circular practices across different sectors.

Eligible applicants include community groups, voluntary and non-profit organisations, and small businesses with a community mission delivering environmental, social, or cultural benefits related to the circular economy.

There are two types of grants available: First, a €1,000 grant to help community groups, social enterprises, and circular initiatives invest directly in communications and marketing activities such as digital campaigns, event promotion, or materials that showcase their work.

Second, a €5,000 grant that includes tailored mentorship from communications and marketing professionals to help groups plan and deliver impactful campaigns that raise awareness of circular living in their communities.

The grants are intended to support projects in areas such as reuse, repair, waste prevention, and resource sharing, including initiatives like upcycling workshops, repair cafés, refill stations, and swap shops.

“We’ve seen a great response so far,” said Claire Downey, CEO of The Rediscovery Centre, “It’s clear that communities all across Ireland are doing amazing work in circular living. These grants are a golden opportunity for those communities to get the message out there, inspire change, and reach and engage new audiences. We don’t want anyone with a great idea to miss out.”

Circular.ie is Ireland’s national platform for circular economy communications. The programme is run by The Rediscovery Centre with support from the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment through the Circular Economy Fund.

Applications for the grants close on 7 November 2025, and interested organisations can submit applications online.
