Two Leitrim ladies who won medals at this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford in August, where up to 20,000 performers sang, played, and danced, were presented with a Certificate of Achievement in the Council Chamber at Áras an Chontae on Monday, November 10.
Saoirse Kellegher, a member of Ballinamore CCÉ, won a second place medal in the senior tin whistle competition, while Sadhbh Reynolds, a member of Drumsna CCÉ, received a third place medal in the English Singing under 12s.
Attending the Council Chamber after a meeting of Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, the girls were presented with gifts and a certificate to mark their achievements at the biggest Irish music festival.

“It isn’t easy to get to the All-Ireland, and then to get placed is a fantastic achievement,” added Cllr Irene Guckian-Rabbitte.
