RIP: Leitrim woman who ‘radiated with kindness’ remembered fondly

Tributes have been paid following the passing of a Leitrim woman remembered as a “beautiful lady” who “radiated with kindness.”

Helen Gilligan (née Moore) of Summerhill, Carrick-on-Shannon, passed away on Wednesday, December 3.

She is predeceased by her husband Billy, her parents Joe and Josephine, and her brother Hughie.

Helen is deeply missed by her daughters Geradine Taylor, Brenda, Sinéad Tracey and Michelle; her grandchildren Lisa (Aaron), Aisling (Ger, Éabha and Fiadhán), Lorraine, David (Antoinette, Corey), Saoirse (Michael), Dylan (Tonie, Evie and Fíach), Troy (Grace) and Cadhla; her brother Joe Moore; sister-in-law Rose; her nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Condolences shared on RIP.ie reflect the affection and respect held for Helen. “She was such a wonderful lady, who radiated with kindness. Sending caring thoughts and prayers your way,” one message reads. 

Another notes, “Helen was a notable member of the Mohill Dramatic Society. She will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen is now united in Heaven with her husband Billy.”

Helen was also a member of St. Mary’s choir and the Millennium choir, where her presence will be fondly remembered. “Helen was a gracious, funny and kind woman and a fine singer. Rest in eternal peace, dear Helen,” another condolence states.

Helen will repose at her residence today from 4pm to 6pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Mary’s Church at 11:30am, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Saturday, December 6.
