The local authority’s social housing project in Kiltyclogher is scheduled to commence construction in early 2026, a meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District has heard.

Cllr James Gilmartin requested that the housing project be delivered in a timely manner and also urged the Council to make an effort to advance and deliver additional social housing within the village.

The original proposed start date had been delayed due to issues with the procurement process, which had to be “carefully managed.”

Cllr Justin Warnock commented that Kiltyclogher residents are becoming “very anxious,” about the lack of development in the village.

“They want to see development taking place in Kiltyclogher. These two family homes could sustain the school. It is taking a long time and the sooner the better,” said Cllr Warnock.

Cllr Bohan added that, “When there’s such an urgency on supplying housing you’d imagine these things could be expedited faster.”

Cllr Gilmartin further noted that although the social housing project consists of just two houses, for Kiltyclogher the development would make a “huge difference,” particularly in terms of future planning for the already under-pressure national school.
