Emergency repairs underway following bridge collapse in Leitrim

Emergency repair works are currently underway on a bridge in North Leitrim following a partial collapse. A temporary road closure remains in place.

The bridge partially collapsed yesterday, December 18, resulting in the closure of a section of the L60991 road in the townland of Shesknan, Glenade.

Leitrim County Council has confirmed that local access will be facilitated where possible. There is currently no timeline for the completion of the works or the reopening of the road, and the closure will remain in effect until further notice.

“In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and Article 12 (6) of the Roads Regulations 1994, and for the purpose of facilitating emergency bridge repairs due to a partial bridge collapse,” read a statement from Leitrim County Council.
