Carrigallen
Exciting new plans for Carrigallen are in the pipeline, Mr Michael Guckian from the Active Travel department in Leitrim County Council revealed this week when he spoke about a project that will be carried out along the existing laneway that runs to the south of the main street and links up Mill Lane with the road down to the playground.
The scheme will see the development of a 60m cycle track, 120m resurfacing of the laneway and the development of a 180m segregated pedestrian path along the full length of the laneway. Two sections of footpath will be repaired on Mill Lane and another 50m of new footpath added.

The scheme will cost around €100,000 and is at stage 4 of 7 with construction to start early next year.
It will be on public display for two weeks and can currently be viewed on Leitrim County Council's website. Locals will also get the chance to talk to the council one-to-one in Carrigallen community centre on Thursday (December 18) between 7pm and 9pm where an in-person consultation will take place.
Cllr Paddy O'Rourke said there had been "umpteenth applications made over the year for lighting etc. on this walkway and it didn't succeed because we didn't have this comprehensive plan. It has a real possibility of getting done under this."
