Leitrim County Council will get in contact with Electric Skyline to find out if a crib in a North Leitrim village can be lit up via their poles.
The Glenfarne community has a roadside crib in place and are hoping to get seasonal lighting for it.
This issue was raised at a December meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District, where Cllr Eddie Mitchell asked that the MD work with the Glenfarne community to provide a safe electrical power access point to light the crib.
He noted that he couldn’t find any grants that would be available to help in that regard. A response from the Roads Department explained that the local authority does not provide power or lights for seasonal events to any town or village, and there are usually grants available to assist communities in this.

However, Senior Engineer Paul McMahon told Cllr Mitchell that they will discuss with Electric Skyline to find out how it would work to connect lighting to the crib, saying they would have more information.
Although, the lighting for the crib will not be sorted this Christmas.
