Effigy, a dramatic exploration of childhood trauma in Leitrim, comes to the stage at the Hawks Well Theatre in Sligo on January 14th.
The play, which is set in Leitrim, sees Katie, played by north-west actress Orla McSharry, return to her hometown in Leitrim following the death of the man who groomed her as a teenager.
Confronted with the past, she must reckon with the scars and trauma she has carried into adult life.
Audiences have called it: 'A very gripping play, humorous, poignant and shocking at times. It held my attention from beginning to end. Powerfully played by actor Órla McSharry.'
The show will be followed by a 20-minute discussion following the performance.

Effigy was first brought to the stage in April at the Glen’s Centre in Manorhamilton. Prior to that, Orla played Gwendolyn in The Importance of Being Earnest in the Hawks Well Theatre with Sligo Drama Circle, and Gráinne in the Hawks Well production of The Whacky Witch.
Tickets are available on the Hawks Well Theatre website and cost €15.
