The death has occurred of Timothy Winters (Winters) of Lissacarn, Ballinamore, and formerly of Kanturk in Cork, who passed away peacefully at his home on Monday.
Timmy, who was an ex-Garda and a valued member of the community in Ballinamore for many years, is survived by his beloved wife Eilish, his daughters Avril & Jenifer, his brothers & sisters; Michael, Denis, Madeleine, Stephen, Bernard, Tony, Elaine, Imelda, Sabrina, Carmel & Eva, as well as his extended family. He was predeceased by his son William.
Condolences have flooded in for Timmy, who is remembered as an important and bright figure in the community, described as ‘a true gentleman with an infectious laugh.’
Another condolence remembered the effect Timmy had on the community through his work.

“He was an outstanding Community Policeman & he dealt with each issue in a thoughtful, personal, kind, decisive way, he also gave great advice to many of us teenagers around town to make sure we stayed on the right track, in his humorous, thoughtful way.”
Timmy will repose at his home in Lissacarn, Ballinamore, today (Tuesday) from 3pm until 7pm and also on Wednesday from 3pm until 7pm.
Before removal on Thursday morning from his home to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church in Ballinamore for the funeral Mass at 12 noon. The Burial will take place afterwards in Oughteragh Cemetery in Ballinamore. His funeral Mass is available to view online.
Timmy was also remembered by the Ballinamore Men’s Shed, to which he was an active member.
“At our meeting last week, Timmy Winters was his usual self, chatting, slagging, participating, joking, excelling at twenty-five, offering advice, criticising, suggesting, laughing, enjoying his coffee, looking forward to future meetings. “

“The news of his death stunned us to the core. Timmy seemed like someone who would go on forever, despite his many health challenges, which never dimmed his spirit or his optimism or his love of life. “
“Since coming to Ballinamore as a Garda, Timmy endeared himself to everyone and was universally popular. He helped raise substantial funds for numerous causes by Poker Classics, Greyhound Racing, Race Nights and a variety of novel ideas which brought excitement to the community. “
“He will be sorely missed by the local Boccia group, by the Men's Shed and by all of us. No doubt he is above in Heaven, entertaining St Peter with a lifetime of stories.”
