Icy conditions ease as winter weather continues around Leitrim

Bright skies with skattered cloud is expected across Leitrim today as the county returns to less hazardous winter weather, with temperatures between 1 and 5 degrees expected today

Tonight showers are forecast for before midnight, but a cold dry night is promised after, as temperatures are due to drop to 0 degrees briefly but will generally float around 1, according to MET Eireann.

Across Connacht, frost and any mist patches will clear early on Thursday to leave a mostly dry day with plenty of low winter sunshine. 

Scattered showers will affect Atlantic counties, some heavy and thundery with local hail. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees with light to moderate southerly or variable breezes.

Across the province tonight, there will be long dry spells and scattered showers. Frost will set in where skies remain clear with mist and fog patches also. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 2 degrees in light to moderate southeast breezes.

On Friday morning, any frost or fog will soon clear. While it will be a dry day for many with bright or sunny spells, some heavy, possibly thundery showers may also occur. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees, all in a mostly light southeast breeze.
