RIP:  Tributes made to 'a truly lovely lady' after she passes away in London

Phyllis Doughty (née McGreevy), Strawberry Hill, London and Lisnagot, Carrick-on-Shannon

Tributes have been coming in after the death of Phyllis Doughty (née McGreevy), Strawberry Hill, London and Lisnagot, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim on Friday, January 16th 2026, peacefully in the presence of her family at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

Predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill), by her brothers Kevin and Eamonn and sister Margaret. Dearly loved and mourned by her family, her sister Carmel, nephews Ian, Kevin, Ronan, John, Conor, Dermot and Paul, nieces Deirdre and Nollaig, great-nephews Paul, Finn, Leo, Cillian and Ted and great-nieces Abby, Annie, Rosamund, Ciara, Christina and Grace, by her friends, carers and neighbours.

One tribute stated simply, "A truly lovely lady and my mother and I had the pleasure of visiting her in London many years ago."

While another said: "Many happy memories of her coming back to Lisnagot on visits and calling up to see Granny Boyle and my Dd and Aunt when we were younger. Happy memories. May she rest in peace with those gone before her. Thinking of you all at this sad time."

Funeral mass to take place at the University Chapel, St Mary’s University London, Waldegrave Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 4SX on Friday at 11am. Memorial service to take place in Carrick-on-Shannon at a later date.
