A Leitrim woman is being fondly remembered following her peaceful passing on Thursday, February 19.
Geraldine Harkin (née Heraghty) of Treenadullagh, Drumkeerin, passed away at North West Hospice, Sligo, surrounded by her family after bravely facing an illness.
Geraldine is predeceased by her father Pat, her mother Ann, and her brother Tommy. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Jim; son Kevin; daughters Thelma and Serena; daughter-in-law Tracey; sons-in-law Gerard and William; sisters Carmel, Josie, Rosena, Pauline, and Patricia; grandchildren Adam, Rebecca, Ruth, Ian, Mary, Emily, Aoife, and Grace; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; mother-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives; neighbours; and a large circle of friends.
Following her passing, condolences on RIP.ie have reflected Geraldine’s warmth and kindness. “She was a lovely lady and a pleasure to have known her, may she rest in peace,” one tribute read.

Remembered for her caring nature, another shared, “As my father would have said, Geraldine was a lady ever mindful of her family's cares. May her gentle soul rest in peace.” Described as a ‘true lady,’ a friend recalled, “She was a lovely woman, with a smile always.”
Funeral mass for Geraldine will take place on Sunday, February 22, in St Brigid's Church, Drumkeerin, at 2pm, with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Family flowers only are kindly requested, with donations in lieu welcomed for North West Hospice, Sligo, and Inis Aoibhinn, Cancer Care West, Galway.
“Geraldine was a pleasure to meet, always stopping for a chat full of fun and with a smile,” another tribute read.
