A new €10 million call has opened under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF). Applications are now being accepted for a Category 1 Call for Proposals, which invites submissions for strategically important, large-scale capital projects that have full planning permission and all other required consents in place and are ready to commence.
Funded under Project Ireland 2040, the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is a key initiative supporting the objectives of Our Rural Future and the Town Centre First policy.
The primary focus of this Call is to support projects that can revitalise rural towns and villages, providing essential facilities and infrastructure to help attract people to live, work, and invest in rural areas, while ensuring that these communities can prosper in the years ahead.
Applications for projects of scale are sought, with minimum funding requests of €500,000 and maximum funding of up to €10 million.

This Call specifically invites applications for strategically important, large-scale capital projects that are fully approved and ready to begin.
Projects in Leitrim previously supported by the RRDF include the Drumshanbo Xchange Project, Glenfarne Wood, Carrick-on-Shannon to Leitrim Village Blueway, Mohill Public Realm Project, and The Junction, Ballinamore.
The RRDF represents a €1 billion Government commitment to be invested in rural Ireland over the period 2019 to 2027.
“With over €614 million in funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund since it was first launched, the impact is clear, it has been transformative for our rural communities,” said Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD.

“The capacity of the Fund to deliver projects of this scale and ambition represents an unprecedented opportunity for rural areas,” he added.
