Court hears Leitrim woman with 106 convictions stole €300 of make-up

Cosmetics taken from Longford pharmacy on two separate occasions

A woman, who stole cosmetics valued at more than €300 from a Longford pharmacy has been sentenced to 150 hours of community service at Longford District Court on March 10.
Helen McTernan of Árd Na Drise, Mohill, county Leitrim pleaded guilty in Longford District Court to two thefts.
At a previous hearing, she admitted stealing cosmetic items valued at €188 from Ward's Pharmacy, Ballymahon Street, Longford on March 22 last and to stealing cosmetic items valued at €158 from the same pharmacy on April 5, 2025.
The second quantity of items were recovered and were resaleable and Ms McTernan previously handed in  €188 in compensation.
The defendant had 106 previous convictions with 71 of them relating to theft.
Judge Bernadette Owens, heard the defendant was deemed to be suitable for community service and she imposed 150 hours in lieu of four months in prison.
