Leitrim well represented at Singapore’s St Patrick’s Day Ball

The annual celebration, organised by the St Patrick’s Society, brought together members of the Irish diaspora, business leaders and friends of Ireland to mark the national day and celebrate the strong connection between Ireland and Singapore.

Leitrim had a strong presence at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Ball in Singapore, one of the flagship events for the Irish community in Southeast Asia.
The annual celebration, organised by the St Patrick’s Society, brought together members of the Irish diaspora, business leaders and friends of Ireland to mark the national day and celebrate the strong connection between Ireland and Singapore.
This year’s event had a particularly strong Leitrim connection. The President of the St Patrick’s Society Singapore, Tracy Mullins, is originally from Carrick-on-Shannon, while the Guest of Honour for the evening was Minister of State Frank Feighan, who represents the Sligo–Leitrim constituency.
Minister Feighan delivered the keynote address at the event, speaking about the importance of Ireland’s global community and the enduring connections between Irish people at home and abroad.
The St Patrick’s Day Ball is one of the highlights of the Irish calendar in Singapore, attracting hundreds of members of the Irish community each year and showcasing Irish culture, music and hospitality.
Speaking about the event, Minister Feighan said it was wonderful to see the strength of the Irish community so far from home.
“It was a great privilege to attend the St Patrick’s Day Ball in Singapore and to meet so many members of the Irish community who are making their mark across business, technology and public life in the region,” he said.
“It was particularly special to meet President Tracy Mullins, a Carrick-on-Shannon native leading the St Patrick’s Society and organising such a special event.”
The Minister paid tribute to the work of the St Patrick’s Society Singapore in keeping Irish culture and community connections alive for the diaspora in the region.
