Leitrim pub and shop granted planning permission for expanded premises

A Leitrim pub and shop has received planning permission for a number of new facilities and expanded premises.

In January, The Copper Still and Hunts Supermarket in Dromod sought retention permission for several changes that have already been carried out, including the retention of extensions, alterations and a beer garden at the existing pub and restaurant; retention of the change of use of the original living accommodation to a guest house, together with associated material alterations; retention of the constructed shop and off-licence; and retention of a storage shed to serve the retail unit and public house/restaurant.

They also sought permission for additional changes, including a small extension to the rear of the shop and the erection of a pergola to the rear of the pub.

Furthermore, the application sought permission to construct a new parking area to serve the premises, with a new access onto the public road, along with all associated site development works.

Leitrim County Council granted conditional planning permission on March 20, subject to 10 conditions.

These conditions include that 20 percent of the new car parking spaces must provide facilities for charging battery-operated cars; that site development and building works shall be carried out only between the hours of 8am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays, inclusive, between 8am to 2pm on Saturdays, and not at all on Sundays or public holidays; and that all service cables associated with the proposed development, such as electrical, telecommunications and communal television cables, must be located underground.
