'How does this even happen?' — Shock as car flips in early-morning on busy Leitrim street

Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, after a car overturned on Main Street in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:45am and involved a single vehicle. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Footage of the aftermath, showing the car flipped on its roof in the town centre, has since been widely shared across social media.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene. He has since been charged in connection with the incident and appeared before a special sitting of Sligo District Court later that day.

Gardaí have confirmed that, as the matter is now before the courts, no further details can be provided at this time.
