'A gentleman in every sense' remembered in Leitrim and Dublin

Gerry O’Rourke, formerly of Tarmon in Co. Leitrim, is remembered following his passing last week

“A gentleman in every sense” remembered in Leitrim and Dublin

The death has occurred of Gerry O’Rourke of Santry, Dublin and formerly of Tarmon, Co. Leitrim

Gerry passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Mater Hospital on Friday.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, and his adored children, Ann, Edel, Kenneth, Carmel, and Geraldine. He was pre-deceased by the late baby Damien.

He is also sadly missed by his family, sons-in-law Danny, John and Brian, grandchildren Jamie, Chloe, Katie, Jacob, Alex, Cian and Kyle, his sister Agnes, sisters-in-law Rita and Kathleen, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by his sisters Mena and Mary-Jo.

Gerry was remembered fondly in Leitrim, and in Ballymun, one message of condolence remembers “fond memories of all the 25 card games in Ballymun over the years.”

One message of condolence recalls him as “a gentleman in every sense.” Continuing that they “always enjoyed his company, his sense of humour & above all his common sense.”

Funeral Mass for Gerry will take place on Wednesday, the 1st of April in Our Lady of Victories Church, on Ballymun Road, at 11.30 am, and will be followed by burial in Dardistown Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
