The following deaths have occurred in the wider Leitrim area:

Ian McDonnell, Lucan, Dublin / Elphin, Roscommon

Ian McDonnell, Lucan, Co. Dublin. Late of Galway Road, Roscommon and Elphin, 28th January, 2022, at Tallaght University Hospital. Predeceased by his parents John and Marie. To the inexpressible grief of his heartbroken wife Monica (nee Beirne) and children Clodagh, Gareth and Aoife. Ian will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his wife and children, sister Sandra McFadden (husband Keith), sisters-in-law Irene and her husband Andrew, Olga and her partner Richard, brother-in-law Adrian and his wife Tracy, aunts Breda, Monica and Laura, nieces and nephews, Joseph, Ciara, Colm, Rachel, Karen, Sara and Vanessa. He is also fondly remembered by his many close friends. Reposing at the family home in Lucan on Sunday (6th Feb.) from 2pm to 8pm. Prayers on Monday at 2.15pm followed by removal at 3pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Elphin, to arrive at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Caldra Cemetery (via Shankill Cross). Funeral Mass can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/bradysfuneraldirectorselphin/ Please hand sanitise and wear facemasks indoors. The McDonnell and Beirne families are very grateful for your support, sympathy and prayers at this very sad time.

Dennis Worswick, Drumkeerin, Leitrim

The death has occurred of Dennis Worswick, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim, peacefully at North West Hospice, The Mall, Sligo. Sadly missed by his beloved wife Eileen; daughters Janet and Denise; son in law Denis; grandchildren Tara, Shauna, Megan, Amber and Jake; brothers Mike and Jack; sisters in law; brother in law; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. Funeral Mass on Saturday 5th February in St. Brigid's Church, Drumkeerin at 12pm followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the North West Hospice, The Mall, Sligo. House strictly private, please. Joey Gilheany, Drumcannon, Swanlinbar, Cavan / Mullingar, Westmeath

Formerly of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. February 1st 2022. Suddenly and Peacefully at his residence, son of the late Joe and Mary Ellen, Brother of the late Peter (London). Deeply regretted by his sister Maureen (New York) and his brother Sean. sisters-in-law Maura (Drumcannon) and Margaret (London) Aunts Josie and Maureen, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, neighbours, relatives and his many friends from his playing days in the Red Sunbeam, Drifters and Times Showbands. Joey's remains will repose at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, H12 RF78 on Thursday, 3rd February, from 7pm to 8pm. Walk through only no hugs or handshaking. House strictly private at all times. Joey's remains will leave his late residence on Friday at 10.30am to arrive at Saint Mary's Church, Swanlinbar for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am with burial afterwards in the family plot in Killaduff Cemetery. Kathleen Oates Tawley, Castlegal, Leitrim

Suddenly at Sligo University Hospital. Sadly, missed by her sons, Peter (Belleek, Co. Fermanagh), Bernard (Manorhamilton), Gerry (Bundoran), John (Cliffoney), Kieran (Cliffoney) & Declan (Tawley), her daughters, Delia Herraghty (Cliffoney), Josephine Cox (Cliffoney), Dolores Scanlon (Gortnagrellagh Glencar), Pauline Mc Loughlin (Tawley) and Christina Collis (Lisruntagh, Drumfin), her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all her relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at the home of her son Declan in Tawley from 12 noon to 8pm on Thursday (03/02). House private at all other times. Arriving at St. Molaise's Church, Cliffoney for 11am Funeral Mass on Friday (04/02) morning with burial afterwards in Ahamlish Cemetery. Mary O'Connor, Kilclare, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim and formerly of Baldoyle, Co. Dublin

The death has occurred of Mary O'Connor, Kilclare, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim and formerly of Baldoyle, Co. Dublin. Peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, Paul. Sadly missed by her loving sons, Kevin and Emlyn, grandson Ryan, daughter-in-law, Jacinta, brother, Brian, sisters, Angie, Ann and Phil, the extended family, good neighbours and friends. Removal to St. Joseph's Church, Leitrim Village, on Thursday, 3rd February for Requiem Mass at 1pm. followed by Cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, at 4pm.

Betty (Elizabeth) Martin (nee Shaughnessy), Drumhaldry, Moyne, Longford

February 1st at Cavan General Hospital peacefully. Predeceased by her husband Pat. Deeply regretted and loving mother of James, Helena, John and Kevin, daughters in law Shirley and Donna, son in law Paul, grandchildren Aoife, Keith, Aaron, Jamie, Dylan, Summer, Cian, Patrick and Ella, brother Sean, sisters Judy and Mary, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at the home of her daughter Helena and son in law Paul Molihan Aughamore, Ballinalee N39TD36 on Thursday from 12 to 3. Removal on Thursday to Francis Xavier Church Moyne arriving at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 12 noon with burial in Saint Colmcille's cemetery Aughnacliffe. Walk through only.

James (Seamus) McCaffrey, Rattin, Kinnegad, Westmeath / Bawnboy, Cavan

James (Seamus), peacefully at the Regional Hospital Mullingar. Predeceased by his brothers PJ, Kevin and Sean. Sadly missed by his loving wife Bridget, sons Peter and James, daughter Marie, daughters-in-law Karen and Catherine, son-in-law Noel, grandchildren, sister-in-law Sheila, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral Mass on Thursday, 3rd February, at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Kinnegad . Burial afterwards in St Mogues Cemetery, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan arriving approximately at 3pm . Face coverings must be worn and no hand shaking.
