Dromod Train Station
Cllr Sean McGowan is calling on Iarnród Éireann to “look at providing a lift or other suitable means of access to platform No. 2 at Dromod Station that will cater for the needs of older or people with disabilities.
“Trains meet at Dromod Station on a regular basis, and it is difficult for older or people with disabilities to use the footbridge that is currently there.”
He said Dromod is a busy train station that has seen numbers increase since the pandemic.
Cllr McGowan was supported by his council colleagues with Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire saying this project should be part of “active travel.”
Dromod Train Station first opened in 1862. Over 22 train stations received new lift facilities in 2021 to help people with mobility issues.
