Good news: €45,000 for Blacklion

Blacklion, Co Cavan

Blacklion will receive €45,000 under the Town & Village Rural Regeneration Scheme, which was announced today.

Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan & North Meath, Niamh Smyth, has welcomed the news today saying that Blacklion in County Cavan is one of 19 projects who will receive funding.

The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is part of a range of measures to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland. The programme is funded under Project Ireland 2040 as part of “Our Rural Future.“

Our Rural Future is the whole-of-government policy for rural Ireland and represents a new milestone in the approach to rural development policy for Ireland and adopts a more strategic, ambitious and holistic approach to investing in and maximising opportunities for rural areas.

Deputy Smyth commented, " This money will see preparatory works for the upgrade and regeneration of a key central green space area and adjacent derelict building known as Mooney’s Hall as an indoor and outdoor community, social and remote working hub.

"I would like to congratulate everyone involved and look forward to the progression of the project."
