Unforgettable music with Eleanor Shanley and John Feeley in Roscommon

Roscommon Arts Centre welcomes Leitrim born singer Eleanor Shanley and classical guitar player John Feeley to their stage on Wednesday, March 16 at 8pm for an unforgettable evening of music.

Eleanor and John first met in London in the 1990s, when Eleanor was touring with De Dannan.
They did not meet again for nearly twenty-five years, when John was doing a show in Eleanor’s now hometown of Ballinasloe.
They have since worked on a number of live shows together and recently recorded and released the album 'Cancion de Amor' which was recorded in St Francis Church, Meelick Friary.
The thirteen-track long play features many beautiful songs including the Brendan Graham original, ‘Cancion de Amor’, which also gives the album its title. This song was gifted to Eleanor and John and they are privileged to be the first to release it.
With a career spanning over twenty years, Leitrim's Eleanor Shanley is one of the​ most loved singers in our country’s folk music history.

Whether as a soloist, or collaborating with De Danann, or her time collaborating with the late Ronnie Drew, that voice rings true with such lyrical emotion, e​very time.
John Feeley is highly regarded for his performance and recordings of new works by Irish composers, and has had many works written for him.
He has been described by the Washington Post as ‘Ireland’s leading classical guitarist’ and by Michael Dervan in the Irish Times as ‘a trailblazer…when it comes to the guitar and guitar-playing in Ireland’.

Eleanor and John share a meeting of musical minds, loves and styles and out of this has come Cancion de Amor.
