A PRIMARY school welcomed a film crew from Science Foundation Ireland as they filmed a promotional video for upcoming workshops in an attempt to get more to participate in the Curious Minds project.
This project aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public.
Principal of Banogue NS, Sheila Cagney, discussed the day and what the students got up to.
“They filmed the children doing an investigation on fingerprints,” she began.
“They put fingerprints on balloons and there was a mystery element to figure out who had stolen sweets from a jar.”
Across the school, there was another class investigation to figure out if identical twins have identical fingerprints.
On this their ninth year doing the Curious Minds project, the crew arrived at 9:30am and stayed for hours until shooting was complete.
“There was a huge buzz of excitement,” smiled Ms Cagney. “The kids really got into it and we are very excited to see what the final product will be like.”
