Limerick village's post office to reopen after four month wait

Limerick village's post office to reopen after four month wait

CASTLECONNELL Post Office will reopen next Monday, February 20, An Post has confirmed to Limerick Live.

"The post office will be co-located at SuperValu, Castleview Shopping Centre and the new postmaster is Peter Cunningham. It is great news for the people of Castleconnell," said an An Post spokesperson.

Working with Castleconnell based-councillor Mike Murphy, Minister for State Kieran O'Donnell said he was "delighted to confirm this very welcome news today".

Castleconnell Post Office closed on Friday, October 21 due to the postmaster who had been running the office for a number of months leaving the business.

In the interim customers had to access services at Newport Post Office. The spokesperson said An Post wishes to "apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused".

The disruption was of particular concern to the elderly who collect their pensions in Castleconnell Post Office, and those in receipt of various social welfare payments, who may not have access to other forms of transport to get to Newport.
