TWO FLIGHTS destined for Shannon Airport were diverted to Dublin due to adverse weather conditions, a spokesperson for Shannon Airport Group (SAG) has confirmed.

The two flights include the FR1865 from Reus, due to land at 12.50pm and FR1345 from Lanzarote due to land at Shannon at 2.30pm.

A spokesperson for SAG said “strong crosswinds” were the cause of the flights being diverted.

This follows an orange weather warning for wind which was put in place by Met Éireann for the early hours of this Wednesday morning.

Both planes were Ryanair commercial flights.

Both the FR1865 and the FR1345 flights were seen circling the airport a number of times on the popular app FlightRadar24 before flying towards Dublin airport where they both landed safely.

FlightRadar24 is a popular flight scanner app which shows over 180,000 flights across the world in real-time, flying towards their destinations.

According to a passenger on the FR1345 flight from Lanzarote, those on the plane are being transported back to Shannon Airport by bus as many would have left cars parked there.
