NEWCASTLE West Show has fallen foul of the weather this year.
The event was due to take place on Sunday, July 16 but the committee had to postpone it due to the amount of surface water.
It had been hoped to find an alternative date later in the year but now it has been cancelled until 2024.
A statement sent to Limerick, on behalf of Seamus Shanahan, secretary and Liam Ruttle, chairman, says that regrettably the Newcastle West show committee have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel the show for 2023.
"We had hoped to run in the weeks following our original date but this was not an option with the weather. We then reviewed dates in the future but unfortunately could not find a suitable time.
"We would like to thank all the competitors, sponsors, trade exhibitor’s and volunteers that had supported us in the build up to our show. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2024," concludes the statement.
The organising committee had a stellar line-up of events for the show this year. Newcastle West Show dates back over a century so some torrential rain this year won't stop them getting the show on the road next year.
