Does Limerick have a roof? County to escape worst of weather

ONLY TWO counties in Ireland are to escape the worst of the wet and windy weather over the weekend, and one of them is Limerick!

Met Éireann have reported that Limerick and Donegal are the only counties with no rain or wind warnings on Friday night into Saturday.

All other counties have been issued yellow weather warnings which include spells of heavy rain from Friday evening through Saturday morning.

The unique status of Limerick and Donegal on the weather map sparked reaction online prompting one observer to comment: "Does Limerick have a roof?"

Met Éireann are advising people in affected counties of the possible impacts including spot flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travelling conditions.

Meteorologist Aoife Kealy said: “With the unseasonable weather expected over the weekend, especially with more people on the move for the bank holiday, we ask people to keep an eye on the forecast and any possible warnings for their area.”

The news comes after the wettest July on record, surpassing that of 2009, which held the previous record.
