Almost judge and jury: Tom O'Donnell
TOM O'Donnell was almost judge and jury after he was called to be one of "twelve good men and true".
Judge O'Donnell, who was sitting in Limerick Circuit Court this Tuesday, had a short day on the bench as cases were adjourned due to the strike by criminal law barristers.
After matters had been dealt with, Judge O'Donnell told State Solicitor Padraig Mawe that he had a received a summons for jury service in his own court.
"I was able to excuse myself," smiled Judge O'Donnell.
Mr Mawe joked that it was nice to be able to excuse himself in his own court.
Although Judge O'Donnell is due to retire next year so he might not find it so easy to avoid jury service in the future!
