Members of Comhluadar Luimnigh are ready for action at Féile na Samhna this week
LIMERICK-based Irish language network, Comhluadar Luimnigh, are looking forward to an all-new Irish festival, Féile na Samhna 2023.
The festival is set to take place from November 7 to 13, and all ages from across Limerick can take part in a vast array of enjoyable activities, for free, and for all ages.
Events include a ceílí and gathering in Bradshaws of Castleconnell, nature walks in Murroe, a lecture in Rathkeale, a book club and Ciorcal Comhrá na mBan in Castletroy, and a kids’ club as Gaeilge in Lisnagry.
In the city, there will be a musical book launch in Conradh na Gaeilge, a ciorcal comhrá at the Milk Market, pop-up Gaeltachts in JJ Bowles and Tom Collins, concerts by Seo Linn and the Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, a story exchange with Narrative 4 and even a showing of the Irish language film, Tarrac, in the Belltable.
“Our vision is to bring people together, socially, through Irish, and all levels of Irish are catered for,” says Comhluadar Luimnigh committee member, Denis Kelly.
Denis came together with others from across the city and county to form Comhluadar Luimnigh in 2017.
Eleanor Walsh of Mary Immaculate College said: “The weekend is about children and young people.”
Mirroring this ethos, she continued: “On Friday evening we are hosting a quiz and social get together for second level students aged 16 to 18.”
This event is being run in conjunction with Gaelbhratach, a scheme which supports schools in using Irish socially.
The full programme is available at comhluadarluimnigh.ie, along with a link to book the Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, the only event requiring tickets.
