Gardai investigating car hijacking and collision in Limerick

A CAR was hijacked and then involved in a collision in a frightening early morning incident, Limerick Live has learned.

A garda spokesperson confirmed they are investigating an incident of hijacking of a car in the Murroe area on Saturday, November 4 at approximately 8.20am.

"The car was subsequently involved in a collision nearby. The car has been recovered and brought for technical examination," said the garda spokesperson.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time. Investigating gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to these incidents to come forward. 

They are particularly appealing to those with video footage (including dash-cam) from the R506 Green Road between Murroe and Rath or surrounding areas, between 8.15am and 8.45am, to make contact.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Murroe garda station on 061 386102, Bruff garda station on 061 382940, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
