KILMALLOCK Community Council is running a monster bingo with 100% of the proceeds going to Milford Care Centre in memory of three people very dear to their hearts.

It takes place on Saturday night, December 2 in Bulgaden Castle. Doors open at 6pm with first call at 8pm.

All funds raised will go towards Milford's services and will help those at end of life and their loved ones through their grief.

"Here in Kilmallock Community Council (KCC) we, like, many others have been affected and are grieving for loved ones. In February 2021 we lost a valued and larger than life bingo committee member, Anna O’ Flaherty, who was heavily involved with KCC bingo and whose father, John O’Flaherty, also sadly passed away in October of this year.

"Both father and daughter passed away in the care of Milford Care Centre," said a spokesperson for KCC.

Tony Dowling, KCC chairman, and his sister Niamh, who are both members of KCC bingo committee, lost their father Pat Dowling in August of this year.

"Pat was also cared for by Milford Care Centre. In Pat’s memory, we as a committee wanted to come together with our friends, community and local businesses and give back in the only way we can by providing funds so other families can benefit from the wonderful care provided by Milford Care Centre.

"100% of proceeds will be going to Milford Care Centre. Our main sponsor is Ryan’s SuperValu, Kilmallock. They have kindly donated €1,000 to our pot. We are so grateful to Ryan's SuperValu and to all other donations great and small.

"We are stunned by the generosity of friends, family and local businesses who have made donations or sponsored raffle prizes or games," said the spokesperson.

If you would like to get involved to sponsor a game or raffle prize, or make a donation, please contact any committee member or email kcc.peopleshall@gmail.com

"Other than supporting a fantastic cause a great evening is guaranteed with the chance of winning up to €4,000 just in time for Christmas.

"May Anna, John, Pat and everyone we grieve for rest in peace. Those we have held in our arms for a little while we hold in our hearts forever," said the KCC spokesperson.

Milford Care Centre is not just a hospice inpatient unit, they provide multiple services – these include hospice at home services, a nursing home, day care for both the older person and people with palliative care needs. They also offer bereavement support for families. And all funds raised will go towards furthering their good works.
