ONE of Ireland's fondest festive fundraising traditions will return to five locations across Limerick over the festive season.

Supported by AIB, the GOAL Mile will see over 25,000 people running or walking a mile, at 150 locations in villages, towns, and cities across Ireland to raise funds for vulnerable communities across the globe.

Since 1982, the annual event has seen thousands of people run or walk a mile (2,000 steps) to raise funds for the charity.

Once again, this year AIB is encouraging communities from all over Limerick to ‘Step Up Together’ and help other communities by registering and taking part in this Christmas tradition with their friends and families.

The locations of GOAL Mile events in Limerick are as follows

*Crecora GAA Pitch: Christmas Day, 12pm-12:30pm
University of Limerick Athletics Track: Christmas Day, 11am-1pm
Fedamore GAA Grounds: Christmas Day, 11:30am
Castle Demense Park, Newcastle West: St. Stephen's Day, 10am
Ballybrown Community Resource Centre: Christmas Day, 12pm

Appealing to people in Clare to support their local GOAL Mile, Eamon Sharkey, director of fundraising and communications at GOAL said: "During 2023, we have witnessed a deadly mix of crises because of conflict and natural disaster across the world and GOAL has responded to all these crises, helping communities affected move from crisis to resilience. We are now asking people across Ireland to register for their local GOAL Mile and make whatever contribution they can so that we can continue this life-saving work.”
