GARDAI in Kerry are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery a body of a man in Listowel.
A garda spokesperson said the body of a man, aged in his 60s, was discovered in a residential property at a remote location in Duagh, Listowel, Co. Kerry on Saturday at 3pm.
"He was pronounced deceased at the scene and was later removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry where a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Tuesday," said the garda spokesperson.
The scene is currently preserved to allow for a technical and forensic examination to be conducted. The office of the state pathologist and local coroner have been notified.
"The outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of further investigations in the case," said the garda spokesperson.
