Popular Limerick walking route to close temporarily for hedgecutting works

SECTIONS of the Canal Bank Walkway in Limerick will be closed for nearly two weeks to allow for hedge cutting works.

Limerick City and County Council have confirmed the walkway will be closed between the Canal Bank Rail Bridge to the University of Limerick Boathouse and from Irish Estates to the Kevin Hannan Footbridge.

The closure will be in place between Monday, January 8 and Friday, January 19.

Separate sections of the walkway will be closed off at different times so as to minimise disruption to walkers and cyclists.

Limerick City and County Council will try to keep as many sections open as possible but some will remain closed, while the maintenance works are ongoing.

Works will only take place Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm, the walkway will be open to the public outside of these hours.
