Limerick woman wins product design award

Linda Wilson owns Linda Wilson Knitwear on Dominic Street

A LIMERICK businesswoman has won big at the annual Showcase Awards at Ireland’s International Creative Expo.

Linda Wilson, who runs Linda Wilson Knitwear, won the Best Product award in the fashion category at the awards for her Retro Daisy Cardi.

The expo was held at the RDS from January 21 to 23 and welcomed over 400 exhibitors and more than 4,000 buyers from Ireland and overseas.

Linda operates her business from a premises in Limerick city which she opened in 2000.

Linda studied her BA in Fashion Design at the Limerick School of Art & Design.

She continued her studies with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, completing a Business and Design Skills course.

Before setting up her label Linda worked for several years as a designer, both in-house and freelance within the Irish knitwear industry. She also worked as a design and knitwear tutor.

Exhibitors selected for the Showcase Best Product Awards 2024 were chosen by a panel of industry experts from exhibitors spanning home & gift, fashion, jewellery, and wellness.

The judges nominated the best product in each of their categories and the overall Best Product Award at Showcase 2024 was chosen by the Showcase judging panel.

Showcase was founded in 1976 by Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) and is delivered with support from Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices.

Rosemary Steen, CEO of Design & Crafts Council Ireland commented: “Showcase is Ireland’s largest international trade show, known worldwide for the high standard of Irish design and craft exhibited.

“We are delighted to return to our 2020 numbers of almost 400 exhibitors at the RDS participating over the three day period.

“This shows the strong sector performance of our community as we welcomed over 4,000 buyers to Dublin for the expo.

“DCCI is so proud of all its makers involved and I want to thank all the team at Design & Crafts Council Ireland for all the hard work in bringing Showcase 2024 to life.

“We thank our partners, Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Office, and of course the RDS, for supporting us in running such an important event in the Irish creative sectors calendar.”
