Free walk-in vaccine clinics for Limerick

The clinics take place this week

HSE Mid-West is urging members of the public to avail of free walk-in MMR vaccine clinics in Limerick, following a further increase in measles cases.

As part of the HSE’s national MMR vaccine campaign, there will be free vaccine clinics in Limerick.

This Monday, April 15 there is a walk-in clinic in Barrack View Primary Care Centre, Lord Edward Street from 9:00 – 13:00.

St Brendan’s Health Centre, Rosbrien, will host a clinic on Tuesday, April 16 from 14:30 – 16:30.

In Ballynanty Health Centre, there will be a clinic on Wednesday, April 17 from 9:00 – 11:00.

On Thursday, April 18, a clinic will be hosted at Kings Island Health Centre, Island Road from 10:00 – 13:00.

Croom Primary Care Centre, will host a free walk-in vaccine clinic on Friday, April 19 from 10:00 – 12:00.

Measles is highly infectious and can be a serious infection. It causes a rash illness, with cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis and high fever.

Complications of measles include ear infections, pneumonia, febrile seizures and less commonly encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) and even death.

MMR vaccines are available free of charge from GPs to all groups, but primarily to those under 18 years, and from the HSE community clinics for everyone eligible who is aged 5 years and over.
