AS EXAM season approaches it is easy to forget that school life isn’t all about academic excellence.
Ardscoil Mhuire certainly hasn’t forgotten that there is more to school than H1s and H2s.
The secondary school held its annual awards night, which featured accolades for kind and courteous personalities, in the Strand Hotel.
“This is always a special event for the Corbally-based school community due to what it represents - a joyous celebration of the hard work, passion, and dedication of its staff and students during the entire academic year,” said Patrick Huff, school PRO and co-ordinator of digital learning and PR.
Nominations for classroom-based subjects were made based on numerous criteria, with hundreds of thrilled students being acknowledged for their talent, effort, enthusiasm, and contribution to the high-quality teaching and learning that occurs on a daily basis.
Other students were selected in recognition of their effect on the whole school community; be it through leadership, extra-curricular activities, or indeed kind and courteous personalities.
The recipients of these special awards were those who were seen to have excelled.

This year's event celebrated these various achievements and drew attention to the school’s thriving and caring school community, said Mr Huff.
Roisín Antonio, currently preparing hard for her Junior Cycle exams, was named as the kindest, most courteous student. Fifth year Holly Gilmour received the CEIST award, recognising her vast contribution to the life and culture of the school.
A special award, for international sporting achievement, was presented to second year student Madison McGuane. Madison, already a stalwart of school sports, captained the Ireland U15 soccer side in this year’s Bob Docherty Cup.
“The management and staff of Ardscoil Mhuire extend their congratulations to all of the students nominated and offer a sincere thanks to their families for the amazing level of support throughout the past year,” said Mr Huff.
