CHARLEVILLE Show organisers are lucky their annual event is on this Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30 because if it was in a week’s time the cattle and horses would be showing themselves as there wouldn’t be a person to be seen!
There are sure to be plenty of Limerick and Cork jerseys on display this weekend ahead of the All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park on Sunday, July 7.
It will certainly add to the banter and fun at the Charleville Show. The forecast is promising with dry weather and highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees. It is a far cry to a couple of years ago when the mercury was touching 30 degrees and sun cream had to be rubbed into cattle’s backs.
The hard-working organisers have moved heaven and earth to put on another great display over two days. It costs over a quarter of a million euros to run.
Charleville Show is renowned for its wide variety of events and attractions to suit all ages and interests, varying from judging of cattle, horses, show jumping, sheep, horticulture, dogs, arts and crafts, cookery, numerous children’s competitions, trade stands, live music, vintage displays. health and wellbeing and lots, lots more over two days.

A man whose family is steeped in the show since its inception is the great Billy Biggane, chairperson.
“It is a real family day out with something to interest every member of the family. Without the generous support of our sponsors, especially our major sponsors Kerry Group, it would not be possible for us to run our show at such high standards,” said Mr Biggane, who looks forward to welcoming a big crowd to the showgrounds this weekend.
Let the GAA banter commence!
