Thousands rocked to the hits of Snow Patrol at Thomond Park
SHE SHOT to stardom after Dancing in the Dark with Bruce Springsteen, and, on Friday night, actress Courteney Cox sprinkled an extra layer of summer magic on Limerick.
The Friends star was among the thousands swinging their hips and singing along to hits songs such as 'Run' and 'Chasing Cars' at the Snow Patrol concert in the Treaty City.
Well-placed sources confirmed to Limerick Live that the actress who rose to international prominence in the acting world for playing Monica Geller in the NBC sitcom Friends was in attendance.
The American has been in a relationship with Snow Patrol musician, and Derry man, Johnny McDaid for over a decade.
Her surprise attendance at the Limerick gig added even more excitement for fans of the band attending the performance - some of whom even got their photo taken with the star.
The Snow Patrol gig is the first of three big line-ups at Thomond Park this weekend. Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini is set to bring his New Shoes to the stadium tonight, Saturday, followed by rock's bad boy, Liam Gallagher, on Sunday night.
In the region of 100,000 people are expected to attend the three concerts at Munster Rugby’s home grounds.
And if the response from Snow Patrol’s fans to Friday night’s gig is anything to go by, then fans of Nutini and the Oasis frontman are in for a treat.
“A brilliant night had at Snow Patrol, so great to see these concerts being held in the city,” wrote one concert-goer on Facebook.
“Keep the concerts coming, Thomond Park. Well done. Great gig and great set-up,” penned another.
“They were fantastic as were Kingfishr,” added another, referencing the support act.
