A driver was detected doing almost twice the speed limit on a busy stretch of road in Limerick.
The motorist was driving 93km/h in a 50km/h zone in R510 on Limerick’s Dock Road.
The driver was detected by Gardaí, who were conducting road safety operations over the Bank Holiday weekend.
“Our Road Policing operation began at 7am on Thursday morning, August 1, 2024. Gardaí are out detecting poor driving behaviours such as driving above the speed limit as part of a the August Bank Holiday road safety operation,” said a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána.
The driver stopped in Limerick was one of 440 who have been checked for “dangerous” speeding.
An Garda Síochána said they will be continuing to monitor and conduct checkpoints on our roads, using technology to detect those speeding nationwide.
“Remember to please slow down and drive safely today and every day,” they said.
