Popular Irish a cappella group sing My Lovely Horse outside Father Ted's house

ONE Irish music group trotted down from the capital to reenact the iconic My Lovely Horse song outside the house that made Father Ted a cult classic.

The all-male a cappella group, The Ramparts, travelled down the country from Dublin to Co Clare to sing the iconic My Lovely Horse song outside the famous Father Ted House.

In season two, episode five, Father Ted and Dougal enter the 1996 Eurosong Contest. They write new words for a Norwegian entry and try to pass it off as their own, singing the My Lovely Horse song - actually entitled A Song for Europe.

It originally aired on April 5, 1996 and has since been recognised as one of the most popular episodes of the show.

Posting the video via their Instagram account, The Ramparts garnered more than 1,650 likes on the post, with many people commenting how “amazing” their rendition of the sitcom’s comedic song was.

One person wrote “The perfect song in the perfect place!”, while another said “Great song, great rhythm and harmony”.

Hugely popular with Irish audiences, 1995 - 1998 sitcom Father Ted followed three priests managing the remote parish of Craggy Island, starring the late Dermot Morgan, Ardall O’Hanlon, Pauline McLynn and Frank Kelly.

The outside of Father Ted's house is located in Lackareagh, Co Clare. The historic property is widely known to have been used as the exterior shot for the series, the interior being a set.
