Emergency services attend house fire in Limerick city suburb

Emergency services attended the scene

GARDAÍ and emergency services attended a fire at a home in Southill late on Monday night.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire at a domestic residence in Southill, Limerick on Monday night, 21st October 2024".

A scene is currently held for examination and enquiries are ongoing.

Limerick Live has learned the suspects escaped from gardaí following the incident by driving the wrong way down the M7 motorway.

Limerick Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze just after 10:30pm.

Three units attended the scene, and returned to base at 11:08pm.

A male, aged in his 50s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.
