A MAN who was arrested by gardai following a significant drugs seizure in Limerick city on Friday has been changed and is due to appear in court.
Earlier, gardai revealed the intelligence-led operation began after a vehicle was stopped by on Friday. During the course of a search of the vehicle, suspected cocaine worth an estimated €490,000, was seized.
"During a separate search, under warrant, of a property in the city suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €70,000 was seized," said a spokesperson who added that all of the drugs seized will now undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
Two men were arrested and, in an update this Sunday night, gardai say one of them has now been charged and is due to appear before Limerick District Court on Monday.
"A man his 40s arrested by gardaí during the course of this operation has been charged. A second man, in his 60s, remains in Garda custody. He can be detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 for up to seven days," said a spokesperson.

Gardai, who have not publicly confirmed the locations of the seizures, say investigations are ongoing.
