ALERT: Motorists advised of road closures as Hollywood comes to Limerick!

A number of streets in Limerick city centre are being transformed to look like 1990s America

MOTORISTS are being advised that a number of streets in Limerick city centre will be closed to traffic this Tuesday to facilitate filming of a feature-length movie, reportedly starring Liam Neeson.

Ahead of filming, preparatory works were carried out this Monday to create a 1990s-America streetscape in the Catherine Street and Glentworth Street areas.

The transformation includes the installation of 'Mini Mart' signage on existing shopfronts and US-style rubbish bins on footpaths. Vintage US vehicles, from the 1990s, will also be parked on the street to replicate the period in which the film is set.

Limerick City and County Council has already confirmed there will be a number of temporary road closures on Tuesday and that parking will also be restricted from midnight.

A sign posted on Catherine Street advises road users that the restrictions will remain in place until 4pm on Tuesday as filming of "exterior scenes" is expected to take place throughout the day.

It adds that access will be maintained for pedestrians and customers of local businesses at all times.

Production of the film, titled 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, is being overseen by Robbers Productions DAC, in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council.
