Similarly, Incredible Edibles is an experience-based healthy eating project for primary schools which shows children how to grow fruits and vegetables, learn about where food comes from, and the importance of quality, sustainable food.

Incredible Edibles is Agri Aware’s flagship primary school programme, being delivered in primary schools across the country.

Students explore four tasks during the programme, Sowing and Growing, Tracing our Food’s Journey, Roots to Recipes, and Balanced Bites.

The programme highlights the important role that fresh produce plays in a healthy balanced diet and the importance of consuming at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Agri Aware, the agri-food educational body, is a charitable trust whose mission is to enhance agricultural literacy among the general public.

Speaking ahead of the primary school students beginning their healthy-eating journey Agri Aware Executive Director, Marcus O’Halloran said: “The importance of primary school students knowing where their food comes is vital to ensure students not only appreciate the work that goes into producing food from a young age in this country but also making good choices regarding their eating habits".
