THE ANNUAL Dooneen Athletic Club 10-Mile Road Race in memory of Michal Rejmer, returns this April.
The event brings together runners of all levels to honour Michal’s legacy and enjoy a scenic, chip-timed race.
Key highlights of this year's race include a new relay category where teams of two can split the 10 miles, as well as a corporate team challenge with teams of four, a €2,000 prize fund, bespoke medals, and post-race celebrations at Limerick Racecourse including a local favourite, artisan ice cream, which will be available to all participants and supporters.
The event continues to unite the running community, while offering participants a challenging and rewarding race experience.
The event is held in honour of Michal Rejmer, a dedicated marathon runner who sadly passed away in 2015, but whose passion for the sport and contagious enthusiasm for life continues to inspire the local running community, as runners gather to celebrate his legacy each year.
This year’s race will take place on Sunday, April 13, starting at 11am from Limerick Racecourse and guiding runners through the scenic landscapes of Patrickswell, Raheen, Lemonfield, and Crecora, before finishing back at the racecourse for some well-earned refreshments and the prize-giving.
Whether competing for a personal best or embracing the occasion as a recreational runner, participants can expect a welcoming atmosphere.

This is the only chip-timed 10-mile road race held annually in Limerick, perfect for those training for events like the Great Limerick Run in May, or the Dublin City Marathon in October.
Joe Chawke, Chairperson of Dooneen Athletic Club explains: “The Dooneen Athletic Club 10-Mile Road Race offers something for everyone, from competitive runners to casual participants starting out on their running journey. It’s a natural progression for those who’ve completed 10K's like Caherconlish or Adare and is excellent preparation for anyone gearing up for a half or full marathon.”
Encouraging as many people to join the event on April 13, Robert Bourke concluded: “Getting involved in the race, whether as an individual, a relay participant, volunteer, or a spectator, is a chance to connect with the Limerick community, make new friends, and enjoy an uplifting day out.”
HOMS Assist returns as the official sponsor for the fourth consecutive year.
HOMS Assist’s sponsorship is particularly meaningful, as Partner, Robert Bourke, an avid marathon runner, shares a personal connection to the event.
Robert Bourke said “One of the highlights of this race is the powerful sense of belonging it fosters. It’s more than just a race, it is a gathering of like-minded individuals coming together to honour a shared passion for running, while celebrating a remarkable legacy.
Registration is now open, but spots are limited, so places should be secured early.
The entry fee is €25 for individual runners, and €20 per person for relay teams.
