PICTURES: Limerick students scoop top prize for futuristic eco-village project

TRANSITION year students from Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom, claimed the top prize at the Design A Sustainable Village in Ireland For 2050 awards ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the University of Limerick (UL) as part of a new initiative by Epi-STEM, the national science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) research centre.

The competition challenged students to design a futuristic eco-village for 2050.

The aim of the project was to inspire pupils to work with teachers to produce a conceptual design which combines STEM subjects with a focus on sustainability.
